What can water do for me?

How important is water to our bodies? Concidering that the human body is made up of 70% water it is crucial to our survival and optimum health just as much so as oxygen is. We can go a month or more without eating but we can’t go 72 hours without water. When we don’t get enough water we compromise our bodies and our health.

So just how much water do we need? Many health professionals recommend that at least a minimum of 2 litres of water a day is necessary for good health.

Most people would imagine that any water as long as it is clean and uncontaminated is good for you. But not all water is equal. It may surprize many that water can vary in degrees of acidity. This is where a knowlege of Ph balancing starts. When our bodies are too acidic disease starts to develop. Acidic water is not what our body needs. So how do we find a neutral or alkaline, more Ph balanced water?

Distilled water is neutral which is much better than acidic. Distilling machine's can be purchased for varring prices, usually a couple hundred dollars. But to be truly healthful to our bodies we want our water to be alkaline, it should measure at least 9.5 on the pH scale.

So what is so important about alkaine water and pH balance anyway? There is much more to water's purpose than simply hydrating our bodies. Water also performs the function of flushing the body of acidic wastes and toxins. Almost all of our body functions and processes require water to help with the process.

When our body is in an acidic state it will pull water into the tissues in an effort to neutralize the acids, and if we don’t have enough water it has to pull neutralizing minerals and such from other places in the body which takes them from the other jobs they are supposed to be doing. Imbalances and health problems will start to occur. When our diet or other factors cause an overly acidic condition in our bloodstream, the body has to eliminate but if it can’t do that then it will be forced to store away acidic wastes in order to restore our body's delicate pH balance.

So now that we understand how critical it is to have a balanced pH, being more alkaline than acidic, how can we use water to help us? One is to make sure we drink enough to accomidate the body in flushing, and two the more alkaline our water the better our bodies will be able to use it for this purpose instead of adding to the acid problem.

So lets learn how to alkalize our water. One simple way to alkalize water is to start with 2 liters of distilled water, then add 16 drops of 2% sodium chlorite, or 2 to 3 teaspoons of sodium bicarbonate which is baking soda, but get the baking soda from your health food store as the grocery store brands have aluminum in them. Or 2 to 3 teaspoons sodium silicate - ask for sodium silicate or sodium chlorite at your local health food store this is harder to find than the baking soda.

Now that we know how to get alkaline water how much should we drink each day? A simple guide is 1 litter for every 40 pounds of body weight, if you do regular exercise you will be loosing more water so you would be wanting to drink 1 litter for every 30 pounds of body weight.

Drinking enough alkaline water every day is one of the most benificial, and economical ways to take care of our health.
